Rice and Beans Patties


Rice with beans is a fundamental dish in many countries. For me, a dish with rice and beans from my grandma’ is always a good option.

This recipe from Popsugar consists of a vegan patties made with rice, beans and sweet potato. This combination creates a slightly sweet and savory plus a smooth and grain texture.


You can use this patties for burgers or with a salad.



1 small sweet potato cooked

3/4 cup cooked rice

1/4 cup onion and mushrooms sauteed

1.5 cups red beans

a pinch of your favorite spice

1/2 tsp garlic powder and sea salt


1- Pre-heat the oven at 18o°C.

2- In a food processor mash the sweet potato with the rice, mushroom, onion and spices until smooth but not complete mashed.

3- In a separate bowl, mash the red bean slightly.

4- Drizzle coconut oil in an oven tray.

5- Add about 2T of the mixture to the tray and shape it into a circular patty. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.

6- Cook the patties in the oven for 15mins each side.

7- Remove form the oven and enjoy!
