Orange and Pecan Tart


Orange + Pecans, what a delicious combination! This raw dessert have the citric flavor or fresh squeezed oranges and the nutty flavor of raw pecans. Once again, this recipe is adapted from Naturally Sassy. The Orange Pecan Tart is a super easy and fun sweet to make. You only need a food processor and a refrigerator and who does not have those equipments in the house?

The base of the tart are pecans with dates. The top layer is fresh squeezed oranges blended with tumeric and ginger. Do you understood? Orange, turmeric and ginger… three powerful medicinal foods. The oranges have lots of vitamin C and the turmeric and ginger are both anti-everything! In conclusion, you can call this dessert a Medicinal Tart.

This is one of the reason why I love raw/vegan desserts. Most of the time they are use to be medicinal. They are so rich in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. And of course, they are always full of flavor, color, deliciousness and fun!



yield: 8 servings

For the base:

1 cup pecans

1/2 cup dates (add more if needed)

3 T coconut flour

a pinch of sea salt

For the orange layer:

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

a pinch of ginger and turmeric powder

2T organic agave

1/4 cup organic coconut oil

1 cup any Nut Spread

1/2 cup dates



For the base:

1- Add the pecans to the food processor and press until flour consistency.



2- Add the sea salt, coconut flour and dates. Process until a dough consistency.

3- Once done, press the dough on a 8 inch round pan.


4- Cover and put in the refrigerator.


For the orange top layer:

1- Put all of the ingredients in the food processor until well mixed.


2- Pour all the mixture on top of the pecan crust.

3- Store in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
