Mocha Tart

What is a tart? A tart is a dessert that contains a crust and a filling. I found this Mocha Tart recipe scrolling down on my Instagram account (@icadelicias) and could not resist the picture! The recipe is from @maryles_plantry. Although it seems a bit difficult to make, I wanted to give it a try because as I said before, it looks irresistible in the picture.

I will not lie to you. This raw vegan dessert was a bit challenging to make because is has many ingredients and I always get messy when working with chocolate. But the result is worth. This tart has a perfect scent of coffee and chocolate. It has healthy fats (nuts, chocolate and avocado), is low in carbohydrates and is high in protein (12g per serving!) The crust is not too crunchy it is more sandy, I would say. The filling is smooth. I topped it with berries (cherries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries). You can either make this in a bread pan, in individual cups or in a round mold.

Ingredients:

yield: 8-11 servings

For the crust:

1 cup cashews

1/2 cup almonds

18 dates

1/4 cup raisins

1 T coffee flour

2 T cocoa powder

For the filling:

1/2 cup cashews and 1/2 cup almonds soaked overnight (Can use 1.5 cups of cashews or almonds. I just wanted to combine them.)

1/2 avocado

1/2 cup vegan milk

3/4 cups water

8 dates

1T maple syrup

1 T coconut oil

1T cocoa powder

Additional:

Berries for topping

Procedure:

For the filling:

1- In a food processor add all of the ingredients until well crushed.

2- Pour all of the mixture in the loaf mold and shape with your hands.

3- Store in the freezer while you make the filling.

For the filling:

1- Simply mix all of the ingredients until smooth.

2- Take out the crust from the freezer and pour all of the filling.

3- Add the berries as topping and freeze for an hour, at least.

4- Cut into slices and enjoy!
