I am so in love with Fit Vegan Chef Crispy Baked Tofu that I am considering to include this recipe in my day-to-day cooks.
This crispy baked tofu is high in protein, delicious in flavor and rich in texture. Fit Vegan Chef is a nutrition and exercise coach plus she is a champion of some bikini body competitions. So I am very confidence with any recipe that she posts. Usually all her recipes are high in protein, low in fat. This week I baked a Banana Chocolate Granola which the recipe is from hers. This had been the most interasting granola with so many flavors and textures.
About the crispy baked tofu, I guess that you can have an idea of what you will encounter. It is cripy in the outside and soft in the side. The flavor? An explosion of spices. I used paprika, garlic powder and parsley.
As to the outside coating, which is what really do the crispyness, she used panko bread and I was going to use crumbs of a sourdough bread but instead I used a mixture of oats and dates that I had store because I started to make rawnola but in the process I noticed that I did not have raisins so I store that mixture to use it later in any recipe and so it arrived the time to use it and in this recipe. So it is up to you if you want to use panko breads or 1/2 cup oats and 6 dates until more less flour consistency.
The procedure is very simple. It is like making french toasts. You soak the tofu into your mixture and the coat it into the bread mixture. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you drain the tofu at least for 20mins. You can put the tofu in a dish and put a cut board on top.
I enjoyed this recipe in a salad with chickpeas, peppers, tomatoes, spinachs and olive oil.
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup almond milk
1.5T liquid coconut aminos
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp parika
1/2 tsp parsley
1 cup bread crumbs or 1/2 cup oats blended with 6 dates
1 package of tofu
1- Prepare your soaking mixture (everything except the last two ingredi ets) in a recipient and mix.
2- Preheat the oven at 400°F.
3- Cut the tofu in 16 cubes. Soak them in the mixture and then coat them with the breadcrumbs or oats with dates mixture.
4- Put them in an oven tray sprayed with coconut oil. Bake for 40mins, switching from sides the tofus every 10mins.
5- Once cooked, serve with your choice of compliments.
