What a better way to start a rainy and long day with a warm Cocoa Waffles! Looked at that cornstarch that looks like a hot caramel for a flan. This cornstarch is made with vanilla, honey and berry water. I took out the berry water simply from the water that remains when the berries are unfrozen. The additional toppings are berries and slices of a banana.
Ingredients: yield: 1 person
1/4cup whole wheat flour 1.5T cocoa 1T brown sugar 1/2tsp baking powder water for mixing
For the cornstarch: 2T cornstarch berries water for dissolving 1/2tsp vanilla 1tsp honey
Additional toppings: berries, banana
First, turn on a waffler iron on maximum heat.
Now, mix all of the ingredients for the waffle with water until waffle consistency. Then, pour all of the batter into the waffle maker and let cook during 7 minutes on each side. Once cooked, transfer it to the serving dish.
Now, make ahead the cornstarch. Mix all of the ingredients in a small saucepan until the cornstarch has dissolved. Turn on the stove top on medium heat and stir the cornstarch until it start to thickens. Quickly spread it on top of the waffle.
Finally add the fruits or other toppings.
