Spiced Macadamias Oatmeal


This oatmeal is similar to the Pecan Oatmeal, but the taste is really different beacuse each nut has a peculiar taste. Macadamias come from Kenya, New Zeland, Autralia, Brazil and Indonesia. These nuts contain no cholesterol. The mono-unsaturated fatty such as oleic and palmitoleci acids reduce cholesterol (lDL) and increas the HDL cholesterol (the good one). They contain a high quantity of selenium which is a mineral that is a cardio protective micro mineraland an important antioxidant co factor for the enzyme glutathione peroxidase. Beside selenium, thay also have copper, iron, calcium, phosphorous and magnesium. Macadamias are also rich in the B-complex vitamins and dietary fiber. Antioxidants in this surprising nuts destroy free radicals. So you better include macadamias in your daily diet for a healthier life and organism.


Ingredients:                                                                                                                                                                               yield: 1 person

1cup oats        2cups water       1/2tsp vanilla      a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg

Toppings: half of a grilled banana         1kiwi chopped      1T chopped spiced macadamias


Procedure:                                                                                                                                                                                 Cook the oatmeal as you normally do.

In the meantime, in a pan at medium heat add cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla essence and a drizzle of honey. Add the macadamias and cook until aromatic and toasted.


Add them to the oatmeal. Then, in the same pan, add the slices of banana and cook until golden in both sides.


Finally, add the banana and kiwi to the served oatmeal with the macadamia nuts.
